This serene manor house in the Lake District was designed to embrace a moody, atmospheric aesthetic, perfectly aligned with the clients’ vision of refined, dramatic living. Created in collaboration with Julia Dolina from Ch.Archteam design studio, the project embodies a shared dedication to immersive luxury, where every detail enhances both the grandeur and intimacy of the space.

The property features five elegantly appointed bedrooms, six spa-like bathrooms, an expansive open-plan living space, a bespoke bar area, and a cosy snug. Each area is thoughtfully crafted to balance opulence with comfort, offering a seamless flow between grand entertaining spaces and intimate retreats.

Lighting design plays a crucial role in shaping the ambience, with layered illumination integrated to offer both flexibility and depth. Ambient, task, and accent lighting work harmoniously to enhance the dramatic tones, allowing the mood to shift effortlessly from warm intimacy to striking sophistication.

The house features two grand sitting rooms, each centred around a distinctive fireplace. One boasts a striking herringbone dark oak board finish, reinforcing the home’s moody palette, while the other is adorned with bespoke glazed ivory tiles, adding a refined contrast. Nordic-inspired wooden detailing, custom oak panelling, and rich textural contrasts elevate the interiors, creating a deeply atmospheric yet elegant setting.

Bespoke craftsmanship is at the heart of this project, with nearly every element custom-made—from intricate timber cladding to the two-storey statement fireplace and sculptural grand staircase. As the finishing details come together, the house transforms into a true reflection of the family’s distinctive style, where drama and sophistication exist in perfect harmony.
